Sleep study Therapy
« on: October 07, 2010, 07:19:17 PM »
Does anyone know what the reimburse for sleep study therapy is with various insurance companies? And any one familiar with the billing process?

I do Home Health, IPT, pediatrics and general practice billing but a provider wants me to do billing for sleep therapy?  ;) potentially signing a contract with them. ;) ;)

I have not billed for sleep study but you could look up the allowed amount with Medicare.  That is usually a good indicator for what is allowed.

We've been working with Sleep Study Labs for some time. Although this thread looks somewhat dated, the aforementioned link shows E/M coding. There are some big differences between Hospitals vs IDTFs vs Physician-Run Sleep Centers.

That said, what you make is going to depend on their volume and your rate (probably overstating the obvious). We work at about 6% with two local Sleep Study Labs (physician / independent) and it's good, based upon amount of work. The typical payout for Sleep Study Labs varies depending on what test you are performing and the test is governed by the DX codes.

Low-end: $250.00 / claim
High-end: $1250.00 / claim
