: How should I present myself?

What is the best approach to take when talking to Dr's. about letting my business (American Medical Systems) take over their medical billing and coding?

There are no "best approaches", just lots of ideas that you need to try, tweak, and make work for you.  If there was a "magic method" or a "special speech" no one would fail at this business.  Getting clients is the absolute hardest part, but once you get some and do an outstanding job, others will follow.  I wish I could say "if you just .... you will get a client" but I can't.  You have to try some different marketing methods, find what works for you in your area with the types of clients you are looking for.  Their are many previous posts on this forum that talk about many different marketing ideas, and we have a couple books on marketing as well.  You just have to jump in and see what works.  If you totally stink at marketing there are marketing companies out there that will market for you, but I don't know of any to recommend and I can't guarantee that will work either.  You also have to remember that you will get a lot of 'no's' before you get that first 'yes'.  Don't get discouraged!

I would suggest writing out a short marketing plan first. Take a look at your business goals, lifestyle, resources etc. and pick 2-3 marketing methods that fit your budget. Once this is complete, start marketing your business using your chosen methods for at least 6 months, being careful to track your marketing efforts and results for each, this is very important, don't try to remember what you did each day or your results, always write them down. This will give you a better idea of what will work for your business. Best of luck.
