There are many different parts to the ACA (Obamacare).  Only one part has been postponed for a year.  The first link is short and to the point.  The second link explores the implications of the delay.

Only the employer mandate has been postponed. The date for full compliance is still 1/1/2014 for the individual mandate. The state exchanges are supposed to be setup by 10/1/2013. I predict we will see a delay. The carriers are dropping out of the exchanges like flies.

The date for full compliance is still 1/1/2014 for the individual mandate.

But because of the part that has been postponed, it will be impossible to track whether individuals are in compliance - which will effectively pospone the individual mandate as well.  That is explained more fully in the second link I posted.

In view of the information released by Edward Snowden re. government collecting all online communications, it shivers my timbers to see the reason why the employer mandate has been postponed - again, laid out in more detail in the second link.  I don't think Patrick Henry was aiming to create this type of government when he laid out his position - give me liberty or give me death.

I should have said it wasn't the employer mandate that was delayed but the "REPORTING" was delayed. As for the individual mandate, I can't see how they can move forward with all this confusion and resistance with many of the states, however, POTUS has said he would veto any bill to delay. Surely he has the best interests of our country in mind? LOL

Hi Linda,

Would you please elaborate a bit more on the bolded portion of your post above. Thank you very much. I have heard of the HMO switching to EPO, but nothing on dropping out.

Many of the carriers in quite a few states are not opting to go into the exchanges, mainly because they can't meet the plan mandates and premium rates.

I don't remember the left hand knowing what the right hand is doing since Obama took office. There are actually several proposed ways in which these subsidy's will be distributed. The one that makes the most sense will be the one where they will send the money direct to the insurance companies. Those who qualify for these subsidy's will NOT receive checks, they are exactly that.. "credits" "subsidies".   There is alot of talk about the tax credits with Obamacare, but thats all, just talk.   Does anyone know where I can find more information on this?

Of course all this is supposed to be in place in just 3 more weeks  LOL    ::) :o :o

Obamacare calculates the ACA’s impact on the average reward to working among nonelderly household heads and spouses. The law increases marginal tax rates by an average of five percentage points (of employee compensation), on top of the marginal tax rates that were already present before the it went into effect....Measured in percentage points, the Affordable Care Act will, by 2015, add about twelve times more to average marginal labor income tax rates nationwide than the Massachusetts health reform added to average rates in Massachusetts following its 2006 statewide health reform.
