When Medicare is secondary they make payment based on how the primary processed the claim.  We do have several instances that Medicare makes payment as secondary.  If your system is set up to bill secondaries electronically then you would just enter the payment info from the primary and submit it to Medicare.  If you are doing paper billing then you would just print a CMS for Medicare and attach the eob from the primary.

Hi, I am currently doing DME billing and yes Medicare does pay 2ndary. If you have a Medicare Fee schedule you can easily determine what the potential payment can be. They also have on the Medicare website a calculation tool that you can you. I will tell you that you need to be very informed about this because sometimes Medicare can OVERPAY!!! If this happens notify them immediately so that they can review the claim. The one thing you don't want (outside of the recoupment, which they will get) is a Medicare audit of your practice!!!
