BILLING MEDICARE NEED DX HELP

BILLING FOR NURSE PRACTIONER:  MEDICARE PT DIAGNOSIS: FACIAL TRAUMA  (PT SLIP & FALL AT HOME) DO I USE 959.9 OR E885.0?   ( EDEMA 782.3, SHOULDER PAIN 719.41, KNEE PAIN 719.46)

From your description and not looking at any chart.  Injury to face from slip and fall at home.  If this were the description that was written in a  report and given to me I would go 959.09 (Injusry to face and neck)   I would steer towards E888.8 and not E885.0 as 885.0 is fall from a non-motorized scooter..
This is my interp only based upon what is written.  I would consult with your inhouse coder for further clarification.

The E codes are usually secondary to the 9**.**
