Telemed
« on: April 25, 2011, 03:28:42 PM »
Our small rural facility has initiated Behavioral Health Telemedicine. I am confused when reading "parent, originating site, distant site", it is used interchangablely. If the patient is physically present at our site and the MD is at a larger facility, who bills what? Patients do get their medications here, so we bill that from our facilty? Any experiences with this?

The way I understand it is that the parent, originating site, is where the physician is.  The physician must bill for the services, from where they were when they performed the services.  I haven't actually billed this though so I'm curious to hear from someone who has.

When you say they "get their medications here" are they physically picking up the meds?  Or just the RX for the meds?

That is what I was leaning towards....We have an inhouse pharmacy so the patients are here and converse with physician via tele-med and pick up their prescriptions here.... thanks again. nadine
