: Question regarding patient billing and non-English speaking patients
: ljones88 September 26, 2015, 11:29:12 PM
Hi all,

I live in South Florida and am in the process of creating my own medical billing company. With that said, I plan to also handle the patient billing for the physicians. Unfortunately, I only speak English which will make handling non-English speaking patient calls difficult. Can someone suggest a work around to this or provide feedback on what my best option is for this? I've considered hiring a bilingual or multilingual patient collector but also have no idea how to go about wages (commission on payments collected or hourly wage).

Thank you!

That is a tough one because obviously your area has many non English speaking patients.  If you will be hiring people to work for you I would personally try to find someone who is bilingual or multilingual so that they could be a biller, but handle any calls for non English speaking patients.  I think it would be hard to hire simply on just handling the calls.  I know from our experience you can go days without any patient calls, or you can receive several in one day.  It would be hard to have someone available, but not know when/if they will be needed.
