Returned Mail - Temporarily Away
« on: November 22, 2010, 04:04:25 PM »
I was just curious as to what you do with mail that is returned as "temporarily away".  I have put notes in the system to flag the account to get an updated address, but what if the patient never comes back into the office?  Do you send a statement every so many months on the hope of getting one to the patient?

Thanks!

That's a new one for me.  I haven't ever gotten that on a return.  Maybe you could contact the Post Office and ask if there is an end date on the returns.  Then you could send the statement then.  It sounds like someone that either goes south for the winter or went on an extended vacation.

I thought it was bizarre too! Especially since I have 5 sitting on my desk!
I will call the PO and see what they suggest and update the post when I have an answer. :)
