: NY Work Comp and DME
: DrCampola April 17, 2009, 09:26:02 PM
Hello,

Does anyone know if there are any special requirements, permits or certificates to bill a DME supply dispensed by a third party in NY?  NY Comp law states that the prescribing physician cannot make a profit from dispensing a DME, they must submit thier invoice and are reimbursed for the cost only.  However, DME vendors may profit from dispensing DME in NY.

My company supplys post surgical back braces I would like to bill ny comp insurance directly.  Any thoughts?  Are there any managed care comp insurers in NY?

Thank you!!!

I have no idea..in NC comp has a fee schedule and thats what you get paid. If the hcpcs isn't on the fee schedule you get 20% over cost.

Hi DrCampola-

I work with New York State WC a lot with billing Physical Therapy in that state.  I refer to the NYSIF site and have found some very useful information at this link: http://ww3.nysif.com/Home/Workers_Compensation/MedicalProviders.aspx

Hope this helps!
