Salary ranges
« on: December 01, 2008, 09:14:07 PM »
I'm not sure where I should be posting this question, so forgive me if this is an inappropriate choice.

I work for a 6 provider family, 2 clinic location, family practice group.  I do all the medical billing for both clinics, including posting charges, payments, A/R follow-up, month end reports etc.  I also supervise the medical billing department which encompasses a Behavioral Health program and Chemical Dependency program, which involves direct interaction with all programs, weekly supervisor meetings and employee evaluations.  Additionally, I handle all credentialing with the insurance companies for the clinic side and supervise the credentialing aspect for our other two programs.  I am located in the state of Washington.  I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of salary ranges for jobs of this description.

Wow that is kind of funny.  The whole time I was reading your post I'm thinking "How much does this person get paid?!?!?"  And that turns out to be your question.

It sounds like you do an amazing amount of work, and have a huge responsibility on you as well.  Of course it would depend on your location too.  It would be hard for me to say without that info but I'm going to just give you some a scenario that I know.

One girl in charge of running a 3 MD, 2 NP family practice, in charge of billing, AR, Followup, 1 location in a rural area, makes about $50000 per year.  (Just a side note, she does a lousy job!)  She also has to do scheduling, hiring, ordering, etc.

Maybe that gives you a something to go by?  Or maybe somebody else has an opinion.  I would think that you should be making $50000 per yr minimum with the responsibilities you have.

You might check salarywizard.  You can check for different parts of the country for salary ranges.
