I am very happy to find your web site. Here is my situation.
I have a friend that is neuropsychologist. He recently moved to New York.
He works for a Hospital but will be seeing patients in private practice. I live in Illinois.
He asked if I would do billing for his private patients. I am currently training for medical coding & billing.
Because of his specialty, he mentioned that most of his cases are billed with the same ICD codes.
What other information would I need from him? What would be a good choice for software?
How would this be set up? Any comments are appreciated.

Why not talk to him about 1, allowing you to log into his system remotely. (if he is web based, he can give you a user id/pw).

You are right, there are only a handful of ICD9 and cpt codes you will need to bill for your friend.  You should be fine.

Is your friend going to be using a software or just sending the info to you?  If he is going to be using software then it would be good if you could access it, especially if he is your only client.  If you have other clients or are planning on have other clients then you will need to find a good software for yourself.  We have recently been working with a web based software company called Xena.  They are very reasonably priced and have great features.  You can get more info on them at www.xenahealth.com

Good luck
