I need to create panels that will be used for urine toxicology billing. I have various labs (billing clients) that would like for us to create panels based off of what they initially provide to us. We bill for the screening and the confirmation. My client would like for the screening to total $4000.00 and the confirmation to total $5000.00. Our client provided us with the following information for the screening and would like for it to be coded so that we can create billing macros for our data entry department. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Test
THC
Opit Positive
Coc
Meth
PCP
Oxyc
ETOH
Amph Positive
Barb
Benz

So the billing client is telling you they want to charge $4000 but they want you to come up with the codes? That seems strange. Usually a provider would have a fee schedule and then tell you what services were done or what tests were performed.

I am still trying to wrap my mind around a lab wanting to bill $4000 for a urine screening for drugs. Did the poster mean to say $400? I am baffled....

I actually think it is one of these companies I have seen that draws a patient's blood, then sends it out to a lab, pays that lab, then bills the patient or patient's insurance for the testing as if they were the lab. The way I'm describing it makes it sound illegal and I don't think it is. I think they do testing that is more for preventative things like how likely a person is to have a certain issue/disease/etc.
