BC/BS coding
« on: July 22, 2008, 02:07:42 AM »
This is catooch again with another BC/BS question.

For codes 98941, 97014 & 97010 why is it this insurance company does not pay?

I am new at this, and I am just trying to find the ins and outs of billing.

Thank You........................

Michele

Hi,
I'm not sure what state you're in but in NY state our BCBS allows a global fee for chiropractors.  So they don't allow any additional codes, modalities, etc.  Just the global $30 fee for the manipulation.  Many other insurance carriers do the same thing.  I would call BCBS and ask them if that is what is happening on your claims, or look at the eob for an explanation.  Ours indicate that any additional codes are included in the main code for the manipulation.

Thanks
Michele

did you modify the 97... codes with the -59 modifier? If not, try that. If they don't pay on it after that, then I would call the insurance company and ask them specifically about that particular plan and what they allow.
