CHIROPRACTIC PIP BILLING
« on: May 14, 2010, 11:13:38 PM »
PIP billing question?
After PIP has paid 80%, the 20% was billed to secondary insurance, the claim was processed and paid.. EOB also shows member responsibility 50.00.  Since it is PIP does mbr respons still apply, can we collect that amount from the patient.   I think the answer is YES, but need to clarify.. Thanks so much!!

I'm a little confused, usually PIP claims pay at 100% of the allowed amount.  I'm not sure where the secondary is coming from.  Can you give us more details?

I have a PIP that is paying 80% of the allowed amt (ALLSTATE) the patient has health ins Aetna..  the atty has advised us to bill the health ins for the 20%..   so we billed aetna 20% with copy of the eob from allstate.  Aetna paid and on the eob it shows coins= 20.00 pt respons...  can we bill the patient for 20.00 (since this is a PIP, i didn't know if we could bill the patient for the 20.00 coins)
i hope this helps..

Did Aetna pay all of the 20% except the $20.00?  If so, yes you can bill the patient.  Or did Aetna allow more than the PIP allowed and pay all but $20?
