code denied 777
« on: October 27, 2008, 10:24:42 AM »
Hi Michele,

Hope you had a good weekend!

I have a question about denied code:

Cl was denied code 777:Pending dual coverage questionnaire from member to complete processing of claim.

Can I mark claim "done" and bill patient, by this way, the patient will contact carrier and update their coverages?

Bests,
Kristy

Hi Kristy,
You can bill the patient, but in the end you will most likely get paid by the insurance carrier, not the patient.  They just need to respond to the insurance questionaire and the claim will be paid.  I usually note the patient's claim that the insurance is waiting on the patient, then wait two - three weeks and call back to see if the patient responded.  If the patient doesn't respond then I will send them a bill advising them that 'the insurance needs a response.  If they don't respond then they will be responsible for the bill.'  That usually moves them.

Yes, after sending statement note and calling them but no response, I will bill them for their actions.
thanks for your detail instructions,
