: checklist for new business

Please advise how I can find the requirements in TX to start my home medical billing company. i have ordered and read half of your book (how to start your own successful medical billing business), although this book is VERY informational, there's nothing in there to reference state by state requirements...I have called my state, county, and city, they don't have a clue. Do any of your books have a checklist?

The state laws vary greatly from state to state and sometimes county to county and city to city, and they are constantly changing.  There is no way to put a checklist together including every state, county and city.  I would start with your county clerks office and hopefully they can point you in the right direction.
I'm not sure specifically about Texas.  I do not believe you have to register with the state as a billing service but I do not know the requirements for starting a business.  Good luck!

We have a general start-up check list, but like Michele said your not really going to find one on a state by state basis. Different states, counties and cities have different rules, there are even zoning laws that have to be adhered to for work at home businesses.    Our start up checklist can be found here: http://www.billerswebsite.com/startupchecklist.htm

FYI.. I do think i recall that Texas you have to collect sales tax from your clients.   To me that NEVER made sense.. but you can't fight city hall.
