typo, my apologies.  Our tranisition begin alomst a year ago and we will be running mocks thoughout 2011 for the Jan. 2012 full swing conversion. I have a couple of PP's on the 5010/ICD-10 factors that can give you an overall consenses.  give me a day or two and I'll pull them off my drive and forward them.  I do knoew that the AMA site has some good 5010 info on this also.

ok great.   It would be very helpful.   I have been doing alot of searching and everything I find is different than the last information.   I just need a break down of the new changes.   Some sites are stating that new code books for icd-10 version isnt even complete and revisions are being done until 2011.    Our Tech Support on our programming isnt being very helpful, either.   They are basically waiting until the last moment and that is going to be a "not so pretty picture with the providers."

You don't want to wait until last minute, there are MANY online courses and courses being offered for ICD 10 implementation, providers should have already gone through this and if not they should be doing it now!

Do you have any suggestions for online courses.  I have went through a couple different ones, however, I continue to get different (confusing) information.    One course says one thing another course says something completely different (from out of left field)

I am very interested in the best and latest courses for 5010 conversion and ICD changes.  I use Therapist Helper and they, as yet, have not come up with changes in their software.  They say later in the summer they will.  I don't totally understand the changes yet (I know why they're changing just not what the changes will be).
Thanks,
Pati

I am not aware of any courses on the 5010, just that software must be ready.  I'm surprised they are waiting to so close to the deadline.  Are they currently testing?  But just not going to put out the updates until testing is complete?

I'm not sure.  Do you mean internal testing at Therapist Helper themselves.  I hope they are.  I'm really suprised that they are letting it go so close to the time also and am worried about learning and testing for myself in such a short time.   I do billing at a therapy office and then billing at home also so I hope it's not too big a learning curve.  I always get so nervous about these things.

Yes, internal testing.  It shouldn't be a learning curve for you.  It's more of an internal change when the batches are created.

I recently contacted therapist helper, my software company, and they told me that they were not ready yet for 5010.  The man then went on to tell me that they mental health billing does not need to be 5010 compliant until 2013.  I told him I didn't think this was right but he was adamant.  I told him that was for icd 10 but not 5010.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Anyone using Therapist Helper with news on this?
Thank You,
Pati

He needs to visit the website Cheri mentioned above. The 5010 format is effective 1-1-12 - it contains the format changes necessary to begin submitting ICD-10 codes effective 10-1-13. There are other changes in the 5010 format that should be tested that affect all claims - including mental health. Things like no PO boxes in the Billing Provider field, zip+4 address requirements, patient/subscriber being the same, etc. They're all explained in greater detail on the getready5010 website.
