Pricing suggestion?
« on: July 25, 2012, 12:11:26 PM »
Hello. So I have a potential client who wouldn't need me until September which is when they go live with EMR. They said I would be using their system and all they would need me to do is review the billing, add any modifiers if needed, send it to the clearinghouse, and then follow up on unpaid or rejected claims. they would also have patients call me will billing questions. I do percent billing with my other clients but I don't think that would work for this. I'm pretty stumped as to how to charge for it. Any suggestions?

I would bill them flat fee because you want to be compensated for your time.  If you bill them by percent how does that cover your time on the phone with their patients answering billing questions?  Also how does it cover them time you spend reviewing the claims and sending them off to the clearing house? You need to have a minimum amount that you will do work for.  Say if the amount is $400 then what is the provider going to get for $400 and then go from there.  Set an hourly rate and have a sliding scale if you want to adjust it per provider/specialty.
