Generally, no.  There must be a doctor involved for insurance to cover massage, and the patient's policy must have massage benefits.

The patient may be able to get reimbursed for massage if they have massage benefits AND the doctor has given them a prescription for massage therapy.  Usually, though, massage benefits are for massage performed in a physical therapy or doctor's office situation.

Also, if the patient has an HSA account, and their doctor gives them a prescription for massage, they may be able to use their HSA account to pay for the massage OR they can use it as a medical expense on their taxes.

On a side note, most "spa" massages are NOT medical type massage.

Thanks for the prompt reply!
Do you also know if Home Health is covered by Insurance?  I mean in the direction of an agency that sends out staff that sits, cleans, cooks, and runs errands for seniors.

Custodial care such as cleaning etc is not usually covered as it would not be considered "medically necessary"
