5yr GSE Contract
« on: September 23, 2014, 12:28:21 AM »
My one and only client is now joining a medical center so I'm in a phase to clean up all the balances, last bit of follow up, and payment applications.

However, just as I'm running out of confidence, I just got a voicemail by a financial consultation company asking if we would be interested in signing up with 2 or more doctors for billing. Also said that the terms of contract will be for 5yrs "GSE".

My Thoughts Are:
  • I don't know even know what GSE is, turns out it has to do with companies that are backed up the government in some way. Does anyone know more about this?
  • I thought it was too easy that business just comes and falls in my lap. And not just 1 doctor but 2 or more? Is it too good to be true?
  • I thought was WAY TOO GOOD to have a 5yr contract. But again, it just sounds too good.

What are your thoughts? Any tips?

GSE = Government Sponsored Enterprise

You were contacted by a financial consultation firm?

I could be wrong, but I expect that if you express interest you will discover that, for a fee, they will give you a list of GSE's that you can contact on your own.  Why don't you ask them what's up.

So many questions. I would check out the company that called you. And I would look at contracts. With whom would you be contracting? The consulting firm or the doctors? Is the consulting firm making a percentage on this? Do you know anything about the doctors?
To be up front and I think you want this or you would not be asking.
Many years ago..another person and I (she is also on this board) were responsible for publicizing some of these scammy companies. In fact one of them went to jail in your state. So I come from experience. It just doesn't smell right. How do you even know if this is a practitioner that you would want a relationship with? Are they US based?

I know it is difficult especially when something sounds so good and bravo for you for posting for us all to see. I have given you just a few questions to start with. there are so many more but certainly do some research on the consulting company first. Share and we will be happy to help.

I hope for you that this is legit. I would hate to see this kind of business starting all over again.
Please keep in touch here on the board and let us know what you find out.

Sounds fishy to me too but then I'm the queen of pessimism in this business and nothing surprises me anymore. I'd ask to see so-called contract. 5 year lock in on a Govt sponsored job makes me skittish. lol

WE recently were contacted by a company who 'helps us complete all applications' to obtain government billing jobs for a minimal fee of $6000.  We contacted another person who had already done it and they said "RUN!"

Although it's tempting...I'll do just that...RUN. I called them up and someone picked up the phone and the greeting sounded like a restaurant. When I asked for the person who left the VM, I was put on hold and after a minute the right person came over phone and greeted with a professional name and business greeting. But I could still here the sound of people, plates, and general restaurant/diner environment in the back.

She said everything fine, but I'm getting a weird feeling about it. I think I'll just pass.
