Billing for RN services
« on: October 23, 2008, 03:16:04 PM »
We have just hired an RN in our family practice.  What kind of services that an RN performs can I bill for?  Do I have to go through the credentialing process for her with insurance companies?  Will insurance companies reimburse for the services of an RN?

Most insurance carriers do not credential RN's independently.  You should check with your local carriers to see if they require that you credential them just to be sure.  They can perform any service that is within their scope of practice, and then it can be billed out under the supervising physician, such as blood pressure checks, etc.
