: New Grad NP question about NPI

I have graduated from  a GNP program and am not working yet. Someone mentioned that I need to pass the national certification exam before applying for an NPI. Is this the case? Also, is it better to wait to be employed to apply for the NPI?

Congratulations!

You don't need to wait until you're employed to apply, but you should have your license as it asks for the license number on the application.
