: DME & Outpatient Therapy

I have been asked by a possible employer to research DME billing and coding as well as outpatient therapy billing and coding. I have one small problem. I went to school for basic medical billing and coding and did my internship in a dental office. Can anyone please give me links, advice or answers as to figure out what these topics are and how I can go about doing them (i.e. how they differ from basic coding and billing) Are these harder to learn too?

Hi

I do not see another post with this question on it.  I am also interested in DME info.  Could you direct me to that info?

Thanks Cathy

The other post was on the same day but in a different topic on the forum.  This was the response.

DME billing has basically the same concept as regular medical billing, but instead of CPT codes you use HCPCS's.  Also there are some requirements from different carriers to furnish the prescribing doc.  There is lots of good info on DME billing out there.  You should google it to find some.  The following is an article I came across that might help:

Also, outpatient therapy (I'm assuming like PT and OT) is billed the same as office PT and OT if you are billing for the professional component (not the facility fees).
