Billing for a new provider in a group
« on: October 29, 2009, 04:21:34 PM »
We have a new provider in our group.  Our group is credentialed with all payer; however, the new provider is not registered with any payers and does not have a medicare number.  In fact, the only credentials I have for her is the license number and the NPI.   She worked at other facilities before and she has never had problem with the reimbursement.  How should I bill to get reimbursed for such provider?

You have to get the new provider credentialed  under the group.  You will have to contact each carrier to see what is required.  For Medicare, if the provider is already a Medicare provider you will have to complete an 855R to reassign the benefits to the group.
