mobile diagnostic testing
« on: December 29, 2015, 08:57:10 PM »
I have a new company that is doing pgx testing. We are going to different locations and testing employees for several companies. Testing is being done with a mobile maxpulse. What codes can be used? 99211 and then also can there be a tc and a pc code...just want to make sure we do not miss anything.

I'm not familiar with Pgx testing.  Is that the actual name of the test or is that a testing service?

It is the type of testing done with a maxpulse machine.

You aren't giving enough information for us to know what cpt codes would be appropriate for the test you are doing.  THe "tc" & "pc" are to indicate technical component and professional component of a cpt code.  If your test is global then you would not use either, but bill it without a modifier to indicate "global".  The 99211 is an E&M code which can be billed if the components for that code are met.  That is the lowest level of E&M code.  Will you be doing the testing or providing the kits to people?  If you are doing the actual testing what specifically are you testing for?  The PGX kit themselves are a kit, and I don't believe that there is a cpt code specifically assigned to that kit.

It isn't a kit.  The testing is done with a machine called MaxPulse. We have a tech or ma that does the actual test on each individual.  The type of test is pharmacogenetic testing.

Pharmacogenetic testing covers a lot of things still.  I did find the following which lists some cpt codes for some of the testing done.  I hope that's helpful.
