Billing Insurance and not medicare
« on: April 20, 2011, 12:23:31 AM »
Is it true that you can bill insurance companies for services provided without being medicare approved? We dont want to seek medicare provider number because it is a rigourus process to get medicare approval in Ohio for home healthcare agencies but we only want to accept private pay and insurance from our clients (not medicare patients). I believe that all we need is an NPI number to bill insurance companies..can someone please let me know if this is correct.. Thanks Marty

You do not have to be a Medicare provider to accept commercial insurances.
