Question
treated a sick patient in which they received an injection of rocephin (code J0696), we billed for the administration charge (90772) but also billed for an office visit (99214) however claim was denied; can you bill for administering injection as well as office visit ???
Sunita

Answer
Hi Sunita,

It is allowed to bill for an injection and an office visit on the same date.   Was the entire claim denied?  Or just the injection?  I suspect the claim was denied for a reason other than the fact that an injection & office visit were billed together.  If you can give me a few more details I may be able to help.

We bill to a certain ins co that regularly denies the o/v when billed w/ 90772. I have to send cn's every time to prove the visit substantiated both codes.

Did you place a mod 25 on the 99214? For any injectable, mod 25 has to be on the ofc visit to get paid.
