How helpful it would be for your patients if you could educate them on their deductibles during visits?Do you think it would help in better patient care and optimize patient collections? Please share your insights

Knowledge is always key.  When I verify insurance for my providers, I verify copay, deductible, amount paid towards deductible on the day and the coinsurance. It avoids patients stating they have met their deductible and not trying to pay at time of service.

The goal is to remove all barriers at time of service, so service can occur without any hiccups.

Agree, with each of my clients we have a process setup to which flows nicely. They obtain pre-screening, I call to verify benefits, fax back and the office will give a copy to the patient when they come in and if there's copay/deductible or out of pocket the patient is reminded when the office does appointment confirmations. You are always going to encounter patients that either don't understand or play dumb regardless. On the form I send back that the patient gets a copy of they get information to contact me and I'll be happy to explain and educate them if I need to.
