BC/BS codes

(1/1)

catooch:
Hi,

I have been billing BC/BS for code 97039. They keep sending back claims stating they need more info for this code.  I keep sending back "reverse gravity therapy".  Is there another way to bill this so they will recognize it?

Michele:
Hi,
The problem is that the 97039 is an unlisted cpt code so most insurance carriers are going to request additional information on this before processing it.  There is not a cpt code for reverse gravity therapy so you really don't have many options.

I would send in the additional information with the initial submission of the claim as to cut down on processing time.  Since it is an unlisted code and most insurances are going to require the additional info you might as well include it on the claim.  For example, you could have a pre-written description that you just staple to any claim with that service.

Good luck

Michele
