NPI and Georgia Medicare Part A
« on: August 29, 2012, 05:34:11 PM »

We are currently credentialed with Medicare but only see patients on an outpatient basis (Part B), and have one NPI number as the doctor is a one man operation.  Now he is planning to see patients on an inpatient basis for a local hospital.  Do I have to credential him with Medicare Part A? or is it that when you credential with Medicare you can file either Part A or Part B? will he need another NPI number? PTAN number?

Thanks :)

No, the inpatient hospital visits by the dr are considered professional services and are covered under Medicare Part B.  He can continue billing using his individual NPI like he does for his office patients.
