More ACA headaches
« on: September 17, 2014, 03:12:45 PM »
I KNEW this was going to happen. I have a pediatric office where I KNOW this is going to be a problem.    The ACA exchanges covered all those illegal immigrants without getting proof of residency RIGHT off the bat....

http://eba.benefitnews.com/health-insurance-exchange/news/obamacare-to-kick-out-115000-lacking-residency-proof-2743869-1.html?utm_campaign=eba%2520hix-sep%252017%25202014&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter&ET=ebabenefitnews%253Ae3077947%253A3529117a%253A&st=email

Wouldn't it have been smart for them to get the residency proof RIGHT THEN AND THERE?? Here come the refund requests.

The list of those that qualified for coverage due to their immigration status is exhaustive, as is the documentation required to prove it:

https://www.healthcare.gov/immigration-status-and-the-marketplace/

In one of the practices that I bill for they have several legal immigrants who are being threatened with termination of benefits, and they HAVE provided the proof of residency. I think that this is more of an admin issue, and we will see requests for refunds, and then need to refile claims when they realize that they terminated benefits for no reason.

They also covered 3 times as many US citizens who have yet to provide proof of income, so this is not just all about those illegal immigrants.

Yes, that list is certainly exhausting.. only they signed them up anyway:"About 8 million people signed up for private plans under the Affordable Care Act, and the Obama administration has struggled to strike a balance between keeping as many as possible insured and enforcing eligibility standards. About 2.6 million had income or residency “inconsistencies” in their applications, the government said"
