« on: March 20, 2012, 06:56:55 PM »

I have a mental health client that started out as a group with his own group tax id number and his own group npi number well I just had a meeting with him today and he informed me he wanted to  add 2 pyschiatrist  and 2 psychologist to the group  and I know nothing about credentialing how do I go about adding them to the group practice. Thanks for any advice in advance

Your client should have:
1) an NPI for the group
2) an individual NPI for himself
and
3) a tax ID for the group
The 2 psychologists and 2 psychiatrists each have their own individual NPI's.
For billing purposes on the 1500 form the group tax ID goes in box 25. The group name , address, and phone number goes in box 33 and the group NPI goes in box 33a.
The individual NPI of the rendering provider (whether it be your client or one of the psychologists or psychiatrists) goes in box 24J.
Credentialing is a different ballgame all together.

Each insurance carrier has to be contacted to link the new providers to the group.  If you do not handle credentialing you should refer him to someone who does.  You want to make sure it is set up correctly in order to avoid issues.
