Consultation CPT Change
« on: January 19, 2010, 06:35:31 PM »
Hello Again,

I feel like a total hillbilly...I just found out today that Medicare won't pay clinic or hospital consultations performed after Dec. 31, 2009.
The medicare document that explains this in detail is:
http://www.cms.hhs.gov/MLNMattersArticles/downloads/MM6740.pdf

This isn't a big deal for me as a biller because all I have to do is simply swap one code for another. But what I'm concerned about is, is it just Medicare? Or does this rule trickle down to all other carriers. If someone knows about this in more detail, please post.

So far it is just Medicare, but I personally feel that many insurance carriers will follow suit.
