Hello,

I received a response from the first set of mailings I sent out. He put a contact number and person down and also wrote in would like a reference. That's the issue now. I don't have any references but this is an internal medicine physician and I have plenty experience with his kind of billing. I read somewhere in one of the books how to answer the whole "do you have any references?" and if not, there was an explanation (example that is) to suggest a way to prove I am capable of doing the work perhaps by suggesting a meeting to further discuss things with him and OM and also maybe ask to look at their ARs... [nothing word-for-word of course, but something around the neighborhood I read that]

Hope someone could be of assistance.
Thanks :)

I would be honest and let them know you are just starting your business. I would mention any experience and your training and education as well. It's also helpful if you have any previous job references which could be a reference as to your reliability. You could offer a trial period but I personally wouldn't do it free, you could work out a discount, but going too low or free might make you appear desperate which you don't want.

Ok thank you :)
You know how things are, you kind of know but think aloud, that's how I am sometimes.
I didn't think I'd get any response the first time around; I only sent out 21 mailings the first time
Around and received two responses. So I'm preparing more.

TTYS,

Make sure if you are tracking your mailings that you include ANY response as a positive feedback. Since the average return rate on direct mail marketing is only 1% you want to include any response as a positive.. I always ask anyone who contacts me what made them contact me.. this helps me to improve on any of my materials and it tells you what is working and getting responses..that's very important!

What type of mailing did you send out for them to send back a name and contact number.

Well I thought of this great idea.
I don't mind sharing it with you all...

I bought some postcards from office max (4 postcards per page)
I put my info at the top then gave a choice of Full billing service or collection service (they would have to check either or)
Then I gave three more options briefly stating as [of course the ones on the card do not say blah blah blah, it's just an example ;)]

opt 1: We are interested blah blah blah
         Contact Name
         Specialty
         Best contact time

opt 2: keep us on mailing list, thinking about it.
opt 3: we are happy with current services

Then I bought a book of stamps, printed my return address on the response envelopes, place a stamp (since statistically if a person/company sees a pd stamp, they'll respond) then I sent some other brief info I came up with.

All in all, being creative. That was my Advertisement #1 Option. I've come up with about 6 different others. Hope this could be some help for you all.
