: 2 different services on the same day

Hi again,

The Dr. I bill for saw a pt for medical care and PT on the same day, he gave me two different super bills on for medical with an office visit and one for PT with another office visit.  I was thinking that it would be put on one superbill, one office visit, maybe extended for the additional time, and all services charged but modified with a 59. Is that correct or will he not get paid for services or for less services if done that way?

Thank you,

Trisha

It can all be billed on one claim, but the E&M code for the medical care shouldn't need to be changed.  The medical services will be billed with the appropriate codes and diagnoses for the time spent.  And then the PT services will be billed with the PT codes and the appropriate diagnoses.  Since there is no E&M code for the PT it won't change it for the medical services.
