Software Training
« on: November 25, 2011, 04:57:47 AM »
Here is a topic that I've not seen on this forum, sorry if I missed it.

I come across doctors that want me as a biller to work off from their own software. From a billers point, I have to change the way I work for each client that way. And that's hard for me. However, as for the doctor, he/she isn't asking for anything unreasonable from his/her point.

Now, that means that if I'm proficient on AdvancedMD and now need to bill using eClinicalWorks, that's a world of change. What would you folks do in my situation? I figured, it's not a big deal that I be trained on the new software. I mean let's face it, I can't ask each client to work from my favorite software, it would have to be their call. And eClinicalWorks is very dominant in the industry, so it might to me good to learn it. But who pays for it?

Bottom-line is, I need help.......Again  ;D!

Learning new PM systems is always a challenge but definitely makes you more marketable.  I'm not sure of all PM systems but I have been billing with eClinicalworks for almost 2 years and they offer free Webinars that will teach you how to do everything (the practice would have to sign you up for them) and also once your assigned access into the system, there is an online manual integrated into the system.

I would be glad to answer any specific questions you have but billing with eCw is very easy!!

Thanks SLITTLES, you response gave me a bit more courage to look at learning a new PM system. And I'm grateful to your offer to help. I might just send you a PM or two later on if needed. Thanks.

Actually this has been talked about many times on the forum. Today's medical billing company has to be diversified in order to compete. I've seen many billing companies lose potential clients because the client wanted to keep their own software. As for the cost of training, that's a cost of doing business to stay in business it would be your cost. If you were an employee then it would fall on the employer. I have worked on many systems. I only have 2 clients on my software right now. I don't even try to sell them on software anymore. I'm finding doctors today have spent a lot of money on their own PM systems and added EHR to the mix which would be a waste if I made them switch, so I just give them a choice. Never worked on a system I couldn't learn, but it is at my own cost to stay competitive. Don't get me wrong, sometimes clients want you to even work on their old icky software's too.. I have a client that just won't give up Medisoft and I hate it but they know their limited and if they are ok with it, I have to be.  If you can't work on their system, it's nothing for them to find someone who can.
