: AUTHORIZATION NUMBER
: kwardbilling June 09, 2010, 08:42:23 PM
Hello everyone:  Question for you.....I am taking on a new LICSW, she is now working at another location and going out on her own.  Her billing at the other place was done under her own NPI and facility was of course listed.....now that she is taking her patients to her new location, she checked, her NPI is linked to her and so are her panel no's, but I;m wondering if she would need a new authorization number from bcbs of ma...she has an active one and on the authorization it lists her as the provider and her other location as the facility...hope I am clear on what I am asking....thanks for any info.

I would check with BCBS just to be safe.  I don't think they will require a new auth, but it would be easier to check before than to clean it up after.

One thing comes to mind.. since carriers have providers listed and grouped by TAX ID's, the auth could be located in another area and might not come up when you bill for the service. I would verify that the TAX Id is correct for that authorization.. it needs to match what you will be billing.
