Software before or after client?

Is it a good idea to buy the software AFTER I get my first client?

It is your choice. The downside to waiting is that you will lose time in learning your way around software at same time you are setting up your first client. That could prove to slow you down tremendously where as if you purchased before hand you can get to know the software better.  If the software you plan to purchase or if you are still looking check to see if a demo mode is available for unlimited use and ideally any training available would be good idea.

Also, I know some doctors will ask you what software you will be using.  I'm not really sure why they care so much as long as you get the job done but they will still ask sometimes.
