Fee Slip
« on: March 15, 2012, 10:29:54 AM »
Hello All,
I am working right now with a provider in setting up his billing with our company and his previous billing company is giving us a hard time obtaining any information. I wanted to know where I would find a blue cross blue shield standard fee slip with allowable payment? Also I need to know all the insurances that the provider participates in to enroll him in EDI and he's not sure because his previous billing company handles all that? Also how would I know if he's enrolled in ERA??

Help..

Thanks in advance!!

You shouldn't have ANY communication with the previous billing company. Hopefully you do have a contract which spells out the providers responsibilities so that you can go to him/her and be sure you are getting what you need from them directly. Trust me on this one.. maintain ZERO communication with the previous billing company, EVERYTHING you need should come from the provider, let them get you what you need as it was THEIR contractual relationship to begin with. The old billing company has ZERO liability to get you anything. Make sure your contract is very well versed with the responsibilities of your company and them and there shouldn't be these things coming up.

hi Dee,

I agree with Linda. Zero communication. Just set the line on when your start date will be and when theirs ends.

When we took over a solo group, we took all the contracts he had on hand and listed down all the insurances in his area and started calling. We started from scratch. We organized all his contracts with the payers as well as researched if he were or had whatever we needed, enrolled in EFT/ERA etc or if he had a provider number already with BCBS etc. We fixed his CAQH as in everything. We also cleaned up his aging and credentialed him with the rest of the insurances.

Its hard work to do a take over but its very fullfilling once you know you made a difference when you  organized your providers credentials and the provider is starting to see money coming in his bank account.

Michelle and Alice have wonderful books that have helped me a lot.

Hope this helps. Let me know the outcome of your hard work  :)
