: Lytec Reports
: camedbill May 04, 2011, 05:54:04 PM
I hope someone who uses Lytec can help me with this question.  I need a list of payments posted for the month and the transaction journal seems to be the only report I can use except it doesn't referenced dates of service and it does not have a description for the transaction codes.  It also includes procedures which I do not want.
Can you use custom reports to create this or advanced reporting? How do you design special reports for clients?

Thank you
Marion

You can do it with the transaction journal, and on the second include page pick the codes that you want on the report.  There is no report that does show the description though.  Dates of the payment being entered and the billing number are there, but not the date of service the payment is for.  You can try the custom reports, but I have a degree in computer programming and I would have a difficult time with what  you are trying to create.  Don't mean to discourage ~ just being real.

This is my biggest beef with many of the low/middle end software's... Either you can't customize to get the reports you want OR they want extra money for them to do it!  One thing I have learned though is that IF you start off with a really good database.. YOU can pull almost ANY report you want from even the worst software, I swear it's true, but you have to be METICULOUS with your database. Good data in is good data out, bad or incomplete data in results in not getting the report you want at all.    There are report / form data software applications you can buy that might integrate with some of them but it depends on the database structure and you need to know how to map the data fields. ROYAL pain.

I guess Lytec would be considered low/mid end software (hopefully more mid than low :)  It uses SQL database so should not be that hard to get data out but apparently few vars know how.
I've used 3 other software and they've all had this detail payment reports canned.  Even Office Ally has this report.
Do you not give detail payments report to your clients?  I have few clients who look at their reports but those do really wants to know what date of service was paid.   ???
