Billing after a Doctors death?
« on: March 24, 2010, 04:17:58 PM »
I work for a Doctor who recently passed away, She was the owner of the practice but there were other Doctors who also worked there and everything was billed under her. How do we keep billing? Do we just have to credential all the Doctors with the various Insurance Company's?

Was the practice set up under a legal business name & EIN number?  If so, that practice is still in existence and the billing can go out under that name & EIN.  Obviously the owner has changed, and you should check with the lawyer for the practice to see what happens now.

Sorry for the loss.  :(

You have to go to the probate attorney, there are very strict guidelines on this, if and whatever they tell you to do ..get it in writing from them to Cover your butt!
