Fictious Name
« on: October 10, 2009, 04:15:18 PM »
I was trying to register my business name but when I searched the fictious name databased in Florida, it showing that name is already registered but the status of the name is expired. Does that mean the name is no longer exist or the owner just has to renew it. It's been expired since 2003. I want to know if I can still register it as my business name or if I have to chose another one.

You have to check with your state, that's not really a question we can answer, some will hold the names for a while, others will require the other entity to relinquish it or reserve it and others even if the business is no longer in effect can keep the name legally. It really depends.  Personally, if it were me and I saw someone else had that name, I would want to chose something different anyway.

i agree.........that name could be "expired" because of bad circumstances.
