Physician is non par- patients pay up front. They file the claim as a courtesy for the patient. follow up to the patient regarding claims ???

No liability for the provider to follow-up with the insurance carrier. Patient/insured should follow-up UNLESS there is a denial to which the provider can help with for an appeal.

Filing the claim was a courtesy!  Following up on the claim would be above and beyond, especially if patient paid up front.  Like PMRNC said, if patient needs assistance getting claim appealed, that is different.

above and beyond = pay raise
doing just enough to get by = no pay raise..
knowledge is power what you learn by doing a follow up will make things easier later and when the patients tells your boss what a help you were everyone wins.  :D

I agree tlewis.  But I find that when a provider is non par, most carriers give us a hard time when calling.  However, can I have permission to use your quote during our employee yearly reviews??

I'm actually thinking of having it made into a wall hanging!
