: ABN's and electronic signitures
: mstilger May 16, 2012, 08:03:30 PM
Hi I am in Washington state and we are trying to figure out if Medicare will accept electronic signatures from the patient since all this EHR is coming around. We would get an electronic pad for them to sign these. And if this is acceptable with CMS can someone find me proof. I have called and searched with no luck.
Thanks for the help:)

yes you can use electronic signatures.   we have been ehr since 2008,  we have been picked a few times each year to send in visit notes and signatures.  Out of 22 offices in our area alone, there was 3 that had all information correct, and yes we were 1 of the 3.    Patients sign in on a signature pad and notes are signed electronically also by providers.   either way, they are automatically date and timed stamped.
