: Need help with negotiations

Need your help to make this work.
I have a project, would like to know the going rate for contract negotiations for a service provider.
I have a cliend who is providing services for a clinic in CT. and they would like me to handle contract negotiations with insurance.
This will be a short project, what is the going rate for something like this and should I ask for a retainer first?

I'm not sure what an average rate JUST for the negotiations would be.. I usually include that serve along with my credentialing clients, I would probably recommend an hourly rate? Not sure about retainer fee, is there a reason you think you would need to ask for one?

It's a new client, don't know how they pay, don't think I want to wait 30 days on a Corp to Corp to get some of the money in these tough economic times. I was thinking something between $80-100/hr, what do you think.
They might want a flat price and I don't know how long it will take, have to have another meeting next week.

$80 - $100 just for fee schedule negotiations.. do you have a law degree? LOL
That is more of a consulting rate and like I said.. usually the fee schedule negotiations are bundled in with full credentialing, unless you will be doing it all from application to contract review that's awfully high. JMO
I have package pricing setup for credentialing.. I also have my paralegal now in 3 states so I also provide the contract review along with the fee schedule negotiations. The pricing varies because I bundle services that should be all inclusive, for example; some clients might only want me to re-negotiate and some might want to credential fresh with a new carrier.
You also have some carriers that won't negotiate by rule. Since a lot goes into credentialing I usually won't break out the services like that because all the tasks involved are related.
