First client - a bit of advice?
« on: December 06, 2012, 02:17:20 PM »
Hi everyone!  I am working on signing my FIRST real client this coming week.  They are a new physical therapy office and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or anything?  We are going to meet (have to set a date) to go over the contract and things like that.  Are things you've learned that you do for every provider when they sign? Are there certain things I should bring?  I was planning on getting a folder or a binder and putting my contact info in it, along with a copy of the contract...I'm not sure what else I should be bringing with me.  Maybe a binder I will keep with their information in it?  Contact person, contract, company/provider information, etc.

Anyway, this could be huge for me because this person has a TON of contacts, has been practicing himself for almost 30 years in this area, etc.  He's a big time promoter of companies he believes in.  I need to make sure he is 150% satisfied!

Any and all advice welcome :)  I'm sure it will be helpful to others as well!

Thanks so much,

Courtney

We always bring our contract, a sheet we have them complete (or we complete with them) of all of their demographics (legal business name, EIN, NPI, PTAN's, address, etc) and we also bring any electronic contracts that we know we need signed.  For example, our local BC requires contacts signed by the provider to submit electronically.  We can't bring the Medicare EDI paperwork because we don't have the info needed to do the forms online before the meeting, so we advise them that we will be faxing those over.

That's about all we bring!  Good luck.

BCBS has plans in all states.  A provider's 'local BC' is the one for his/her area.

Since you mentioned this is a new practice, This is awesome, anytime you can get in on a NICE new fresh practice..that's a GREAT opportunity.. There's extra revenue to be made helping them with policies/procedures, compliance manuals, financial policies, patient hardship guidelines, forms, superbills, etc.  AND if you are not yet experienced for any of that, hook up with a consultant for a fee, it's GREAT networking and having a consultant on stand by while they get moving makes you a rock star :)  I love setting up new practices.. only thing better is closing one up and working all the accounts to Zero :)
