PTAN Issue....
« on: April 22, 2013, 09:24:52 PM »
I am the Claims/Billing Manager and have been doing this for over 2 years. I have billed Medicare the same way and been paid appropriately for that time.  All of a sudden, starting April 1st (no joke), my Medicare Optometry claims are getting denied, with this mysterious CO-B7 Remittance code.  I called the J1 Part B line today and was told to call Provider Relations, which I did. Provider Relations THEN told me that they "accidentally" deactivated our Office's PTAN that we have been using for years, with NO explanation as to why.  The lady on the line, Lisa, muttered a soft "Sorry" and told me that it will be 15 days to have our PTAN working again and Claims to get paid!!!

My questions are...
1) Has this ever happened to anyone else on here?
and 2) Can I speed up this stupid 15 day process somehow when it was THEIR fault and not ours?

Thank you in advance for reading.
