Someone please HELP!!!
I have a patient that has BCBS, she has a $25 copay. She has been refusing to pay her copay,
insisting that her secondary, Medicare will cover any and all her copays. She also states that
we are the only office that asks her for a copay. What?!?!?!? ??? I have never known
Medicare to pay any copays. Is this something new? If, so I haven't heard anything.
Please advise.
THANKS!

HUH? If she has a secondary why are you not filing it? Of course it's heard of that there are secondary's that pay the copay's.

I know that secondary insurance does pay. My question was if Medicare actually pays. I know that if the
primary insurnace paid more than Medicare allowed, Medicare will not make any payments. I guess I just answered my own question.

I have Blue Cross primary (with a co-Pay) and Medicare secondary patients. Medicare will pay the copay up to the Medicare allowed amount.

A further question... ???
What about the balance?
Patient has BCBS primary, medicare secondary.
BCBS allows 104.00, pays 74.00, patient's copay $30.00
Patient does not pay copay, asks to bill Medicare.
Secondary claim goes to Medicare...
Medicare allowable is 80.00, therefore pays 6.00 (up to medicare allowable).. can we bill the patient for the balance of their 30.00 copay (24.00)????
