When you ladies meet potential docs face to face, do you bring paperwork with you in case they sign? I know i do but is that advisBle? Wont it make me seem eager?

Also i feel that marketing my service is harder for men than women. That just my opinnion... What do u think?

I always bring paperwork.  I don't think it makes me look eager, but confident.

I don't think it's harder based on gender but based on personality.  Some people are natural speakers/marketers, others are shy more reserved.  I started out the latter and have worked towards the outgoing/confident/natural personality.  As you gain experience that gets easier, but that was our biggest roadblock.  Now I tell others, get over it fast, even if you have to become an actor.  It will hold you back.

I always have what I call my preliminary contract. It's sort of like a pre-contract in case we have not settled upon compensation. For clients I have already discussed compensation, pricing, etc I have their contract ready to go. I usually give them the contract and offer them a discount on my setup fee if they sign within 3-5 business days. I also have another form I give them which they sign acknowledging the terms/conditions as well as acknowledging they have read and understand my compliance plan. I do this so there are NEVER any questions later on if a problem arises.

I think my personality is that of shyness and politeness even at the cost of letting business slip right past my fingers. And I'll try my best to take your advice (for my own sake). As good as I am at my work, my salesmanship skills needs enormous work. And reading your other posts all over this forum really helps. Thanks.

While reading your post, it occurred to me to change my contract so that the name of the doctor doesn't appear in 50 places (exaggerated) but rather than just one place...at the bottom. And after I make the change, I'll keep it with me. Mine is a long 8 page contract that covers just about everything. But it can always be tweaked just a bit more.

Thanks for the comment.

I was horribly shy.  The best advice I can give you is to get over it and quick.  You are holding yourself back.  Force yourself to be more outgoing.  Not just with business but everywhere.  Church, public events, kids school functions.  Force yourself to talk to people you don't know.  If will help you with your business.  And you will be surprised how you may actually like it!

Is there anything else as far as paperwork or advertising stuff that we should take?

I take sample reports as I think they are very helpful in showing the client what type of reporting you can offer. I also take samples of forms I can design for them to help them run a little more efficiently. I bring also, my compliance plan and any letters of references I might have as well.

I also bring EDI agreements for Medicare and (if it's a local provider) I bring Excellus BCBS EDI agreements as well.  That way I can get the EDI set up.
