new provider billing?????
« on: July 09, 2015, 12:48:08 PM »
We have two new providers starting next week.  Fresh out of residency.....due to state delays, they both just got their license numbers this week.  One of our owners said they had heard about a new "rule" for insurance companies that if you have applied for contract/credentialing with an insurance company (i.e., Medicare, BCBS, UHC, etc.) that the provider could see patients and bill out under their own names w/"pending" listed as the provider number.

As anyone else heard of anything like this or is just for NP's and PA's ??

Thanks --
Jennifer  :o

I have never heard of using PENDING as a provider number ever, be it an MD, NP, or PA, while they are being credentialed.

I posted this link for someone else, and so far as I know, the info in it is still accurate:

Thanks Kristin ---  that's what I was thinking, but knew I better do some investigating.
